A fabulous double for the yard at Hexham with two golden oldies Bescot Springs and Settledoutofcourt winning gamely.
Bescot Springs has found his form again and was given a good ride by Alex. He may be a schoolmaster but he is tricky to keep interested and Alex has found a key to him. It was excellent to have a Kelso Members Lowflyers winner again, may there be many more.
The Lucinda Russell Racing hospitality box at Cheltenham has been very busy and great fun and the quality of the racing is matched by the quality of the food, drink and company in the Edinburgh Gin sponsored box.
We have five runners at Hexham tomorrow on ground that will be testing .
Miss Joeking never really hit top form last season but a good break has done her good and she…
A morning of routine warm up work for all and time for Jamie to trot up and assess each of the horses.
We have a couple of new additions to the yard; two four year old fillies . Both have been pretrained in Ireland by Martin Allen and have arrived looking great. One is by Beneficial and the other by Deploy and both are owned by Jimmy Fyffee. They will be prepared for bumpers this summer.
We had a convincing win at Ayr this afternoon with Imjoeking jumping impeccably over the two mile trip under a fine ride by Blair. Joe has now had 6 wins from 24 starts and though notoriously fragile he has plenty of ability . He will be entered for the Topham Chase at Aintree where he should love the challenge of the fences.
Our other two did not fare quite so well, Alizee De Janeiro hated…
A smooth win for Vertigo in the maiden hurdle at Ayr this afternoon. This was a pleasing performance from the bumper winning five year old and his tenacity and swift jumping will stand him in good stead in the future. He may go for a handicap at Hexham in a few weeks. He is pictured over the last with Alex.
Well Above Par posted a really good effort when second in the two mile maiden hurdle;…
A heavy first fence fall for Ryalex and Derek made our trip to Carlisle shorter than expected. Ryalex seems to be fine on his return home, but Derek has gone to hospital to be assessed for a wrist injury; he will not ride at Ayr tomorrow.
It was another long day for Jaimie as she had a blow out on the way home, but with feed and water on board for Ryalex it was not as bad a wait as it could…
An effective work morning at both yards and while the two mares, Catchthemoonlight and Topham Bay worked four times up the Kilduff gallop, the others worked four times up the Arlary gallop. There was good work from Newtown Lad, Tantamount, Maraweh, Bescot Springs, Sky Khan, One For Arthur, Dr Hooves and Big River. Many of those have entries in the next few weeks and they should be followed when…
Le Frank traveled sweetly in his bumper but slowed in the final furlong. We think a lot of this strapping gelding and will investigate the cause for this run as he is much better than what we saw today.
I stayed at home to watch the horses work, and to go through each of them with Jamie and Ciorstaidh. We schooled eleven this morning: Templenaboe, Shanroe Street, Deepsand, Gaye Flier, Chanceiton,…
Scu and I headed to Ireland on Sunday to watch the runners at the Lemonfield point to point . We have had great success with our ex irish pointers, including our Festival winner Brindisi Breeze and while some of the prices now are extraordinary, it remains an excellent source of talent .
We prefer to attend the points as it gives us an overall impression of the quality of the races and…
A super win for Sammy B at Kelso this afternoon. I was not sure that he would handle the heavy ground but having been getting stronger throughout this season he coped well with it. This opens new options for Sammy and while he is not as big as his classy staying chase relatives Silver By Nature and Do It For Dalky he has plenty of stamina and could be a very decent handicap hurdler in the next few…
