Gerry Macgladery has asked that we have lots of runners for him at Musselburgh this season as they look after the owners so well, and he was rewarded today when Island Heights won the three mile hurdle. Island Heights, pictured, is a good stayer on the heavy, but he seems to enjoy the good ground too now and he won nicely by a couple of lengths. Gerry also had another winner with the John Ryan trained Needs To Be Seen; a second bottle of Edinburgh Gin for the winning owner!
Our other runners all performed with distinction, all being third. Urban Kode cannot run a bad race and while he maybe found the extra distance stretching his stamina he ran a solid race. Kelpies Myth did find the ground a little quick but he galloped to the line and will now be aimed at the final of the Northern Lights Two Mile Hurdle Series. Finally Vinos Choice ran a stormer to be third, a chase would have been better but this five year old is finally settling and racing properly; a win cannot be far away.
Both Glenpark and Pinspot did not run due to the quick ground.
