Quite A Hectic Few Days

It has been quite a hectic few days and with no racing for us this weekend it is time to draw breath and update on the yard going ons.

The horses who have been racing have had an easy few days and with a couple of sessions on the water treadmill they are loosened off and ready to start cantering again.

We still have a number to make their seasonal debuts including the wonderful…

Highland Hunter Wins At Ayr

The whole yard was delighted when Highland Hunter won on his debut over hurdles this afternoon at Ayr. Held in high regard it was great to see him power up the straight under a super ride by Derek and for owner Thomas Barr. He could be one to step up in trip soon, and I am sure that we can find him a good novice hurdle round Haydock in the future.

Our others ran well, including Mark and…

Pre Ayr And Bangor

The ground at Ayr is soft and we have six heading there, while one takes his chance at Bangor.

At Ayr we have a mix of novices and experienced handicappers and we start with the Ayr bumper winner Ask The Tycoon in the two and a half mile handicap hurdle race. Tycoon stayed on from miles off the pace on his comeback run at Perth in September and we have waited for soft ground for him since.…

Ryalex Wins At Carlisle

He may only have one ear but he has a big heart, and Ryalex showed his love of softer ground and a right handed track to win at Carlisle this afternoon. Not totally straightforward, Ryalex and his owners, County Set Five, have endured tendon problems as well as various other small issues and today's win is a credit to their patience. Stephen who rides him most days at home and has taught him to…

Alizee De Janeiro Wins At Kelso

Alizee De Janeiro won again at Kelso today, this time over fences to follow her two hurdle wins here: she jumped with confidence and sprinted away up the run in to beat a very gallant veteran in second. Debs Thomson her owner, and Beth her lass have endured the highs and lows of racing recently losing Champagnendiamonds at home before this super mare showed her tenacity and love for racing today.…

Pre Hexham

It is still good ground at Hexham tomorrow and we have declared three runners.

In the conditional jockeys handicap chase we have two declarations, Arizona Bound and Moorstown. Arizona was unlucky to fall at Kelso last time, but he should be fine back over the Hexham fences and will like the good ground. Moorstown has been ready for a run for a few weeks but needs ease in the going to be…

Island Heights Wins At Musselburgh

Gerry Macgladery has asked that we have lots of runners for him at Musselburgh this season as they look after the owners so well, and he was rewarded today when Island Heights won the three mile hurdle. Island Heights, pictured, is a good stayer on the heavy, but he seems to enjoy the good ground too now and he won nicely by a couple of lengths. Gerry also had another winner with the John Ryan trained…

Pre Musselburgh

Quick ground again at Musselburgh and we had six declarations having seen forecasted rain, however, it seems not to have happened, and this morning Glenpark is a non runner.

Our other five will be subject to us walking the ground and being happy that it is safe for each one.

Urban Kode steps up to two miles six and looks to have a good chance if he stays the trip. Cameron takes…

Tattersalls Autumn HIT Sales Purchases

Scu, Paul McIvor and I spent last week at the Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sales in Newmarket.

With a dozen horses to look at each day we spent plenty of time on each horse assessing it fully and armed with the form, we then valued each one that we were keen to bid on.

We bought three: two three year olds and a five year old.

BLOORIEDOTCOM is by Holy Roman Emperor…

Forest Des Aigles Wins At Ayr

As the rain fell we knew that conditions would start to suit our runners, and indeed we saw some good efforts.

Forest Des Aigles was progressive last season and although we thought that he would improve for this first run, Patrick had him in good condition at home, and he ran a super race to win by five lengths. A fast run race suited him, and with his powerful jumping, he kept himself in…
